PLE Supplemental: Server Virtualization Environments

One of the biggest problems we encountered in our labs is problems with the virtualization environment. Windows XP is not the optimal OS for implementing virtualization. Read the article and be prepared to consider implementing the PLE in a native Linux environment. SLES11 includes its own native installation if VMWARE as well as Hypervisor tools. Consider implementing both the Domain and cluster in a mixed environment Linux / Windows using different types of virtualization.

PLE 1 Due 04/09/2010

Take the Hello World program and add documentation to the file. After adding documentation, configure the program to run without using the relative path switch “./” The PLE will be graded on a scale for the documentation piece. Use the CHMOD 755 switch to make the file executable. Other parameters TBD.
